Hello my name is Meliz , thank you for stopping by and welcome
to our page. Here is my story of how I ended up in the beauty industry . I am the founder and head therapist of MBK Medspa, however I wasn’t always a beautician , I was in fact studying Law at university before I dropped out to pursue my dream career in beauty which stemmed from my own personal struggles.

In my first year of A-levels , at the age of 16, I was officially diagnosed with PCOS , despite having encountered all the symptoms from the age of 11 such as excessive hair growth (Hirsutism ) , painful periods and anxiety. Throughout secondary school , excessive hair growth was one of my biggest insecurities; in the warm summer months I would never remove my jumper as I would be worried that people would see how hairy my arms were. I would always change in the lockers during PE because I was so conscious and ashamed . It didn’t end there- as well as dealing with hirsutism, I also battled with acne, I went to school everyday with a full face of make-up to cover my insecurities as I couldn’t leave home without it.

As soon as I turned 18, I was fortunate enough to have laser hair removal thanks to my parents. My first experience with laser was with the Soprano Ice machine. Little did I know how much laser was going to change my life!

After leaving my law degree, I studied at the renowned, private beauty school Ray Cochrane as well as embarking on various other courses. I qualified in level 5 beauty therapy then went on to work at a Med Spa for a year to gain the hands-on experience and then took the leap of faith to set up my own business at the age of 21. My own battles have been my drive and what makes me extremely passionate about helping others to regain confidence again.

Hi I’m Fatma, I joined Meliz in 2019 and together we are a mother daughter duo currently working together to help many people regain confidence.

I like Meliz, also suffer from PCOS and struggled with acne throughout my teenager years. Due to my insecurities, I never wanted my photos taken and regrettably do not have any photographs as a teenager or adolescent . My condition governed everything, from not wanting to go out due to acne or tie my hair back due to excess facial hair.

In my previous job as a primary school teacher, I noticed the stress was taking a toll on my skin and I suffered from adult acne as well as dull, tired looking skin. After teaching for 10 years, I decided to change career and begin a new journey into the industry of beauty. I took the step of leaving my teaching job and started researching more about different treatments to overcome my personal skin struggles. Like Meliz, I also attended and qualified in Beauty Therapy at Ray Cochrane. I have progressed through different courses for various concerns and have been appointed the Ambassador for Spa Abyss for performing the most peels in the UK. I have also achieved an Advanced DMK technician status where I offer an array of advanced bespoke treatments.
